A student from the University of Kentucky drowned Saturday night while swimming with friends in Israel, New York Daily News . TeNiya Jones reportedly texted her mother at 10:30 pm tonight saying she was "in the night" before the tragic incident occurred.

The 19-year-old was taking a break from the night. study abroad in Jordan during a weekend trip to Tel Aviv. According to a statement from the University of Kentucky, Jones was swimming with two others of his program when they were caught in a strong current and shot at the sea. Two of the students survived, while Jones was pushed further in the Mediterranean Sea. His body was discovered Monday morning.
"It's not like her," Jones's cousin Jean Davis told News-Press during the days she was gone before her body was found. "She would not take a chance like that."
Jones was admitted to the premedical program in the UK with a minor in Islamic studies.
