WASHINGTON–(BUSINESS WIRE) – AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF)
today applauds the US Senate for unanimous approval on Wednesday,
November 28th legislation re-authorizing the WE.
President's emergency plan for the fight against AIDS (S.
3476). The US House of Representatives unanimously approved the

office, which he is supposed to sign and which will extend the work of the Congress
authorization for five additional years until 2024.
PEPFAR is the US government's program to fight the HIV epidemic
outside the United States. Proposed by US President George W. Bush, he
was created in 2003 by an Act of Congress. Since its inception, it
saved 18.9 million lives; put 14.6 million people living with HIV on
rescue treatment; supported 2.4 million babies born HIV-free
positive mothers; provided a voluntary male medical circumcision at 18.9
millions of people and supported HIV testing services for 95 million people. It is
the world's largest disease-specific health initiative in history.
"Since its inception, PEPFAR has enjoyed the strong support of three
US presidents and eight US congresses, which allocated 80 USD

clear message to the world that AIDS is not over. More than 20 million people
living with HIV still do not have access to life-saving treatment. Almost a

president to quickly sign this bill and fully fund PEPFAR at $ 5.5
billion for fiscal year 2020 ".
