AGC Studios has signed several contracts for the comedy "Breaking News in Yuba County" by Allison Janney-Laura Dern at the American film market.

AGC sold rights in Germany, Austria and Switzerland with Constantin Film; France with TF1; Italy with Lucky Red; Scandinavia with Svensk; Australia and New Zealand with Roadshow; Benelux with researchers; Latin America with Sun Distribution; CIS with Volga Films; Eastern Europe with Vertical Entertainment; Greece with Odeon; Spain with Sun Distribution; and Japan with Kino Films.

Janney and Dern are the sisters of director Tate Taylor. He also produces with Jake Gyllenhaal and Riva Marker via their banner Nine Stories, The Black List by Franklin Leonard and John Norris. Amanda Idoko wrote the scenario for the 2017 blacklist.

AGC, which was launched earlier this year by former IM Global CEO Stuart Ford, will fully fund "Breaking News in Yuba County". The executive producers are Ford, AGC film leader Greg Shapiro, and Idoko. The film will go into production in mid-2019.

Janney will play a pencil pusher who catches her husband in bed with another woman, which makes him die of a heart attack. So she buries her body and enjoys the growing celebrity status that stems from having a missing husband. She soon finds herself over her head, avoiding cops and criminals, while trying to hide the truth from her sister (Dern), a local news anchor who is desperately searching for a story. Sales have been reported for the first time by Deadline Hollywood.
