A French gangster who escaped from a prison in a helicopter could disguise himself as an orthodox Jew to escape the authorities, reported the Evening Standard.

Redoine Faid, who speaks Hebrew, wrote in his 2010 biography how dressing up as a very religious Jew was the perfect way to hide from the police.

"Faïd can not stay in Europe, but Israel can be much easier," an investigative source said in Paris. the newspaper

On Sunday, three heavily armed accomplices hijacked a helicopter and landed it in the prison of Réau, bursting into a visiting room where Faïd, 46, was waiting, before taking it.

– An Algerian criminal said he learned firearms from an IDF soldier, and investigators also believe they have links to criminal gangs in Israel.

When Faid was captured The ice organization said that he had been trying to forge documents so that he could go to Tel Aviv.

Faïd had served a 25-year sentence for conducting a robbery attempt that resulted in the death of a 26-year-old female police officer.

About 2.9 police officers are looking for Faid.
