AWS Launches Managed Blockchain Service – TechCrunch

Only a year ago, Andy Jbady, CEO of AWS, said he was not so interested in blockchain services. It is clear that something has changed over the past year because today, the company is launching two new blockchain services: the Quantum Ledger database and the Amazon Managed Blockchain.

As its name indicates, AWS Managed Blockchain is a managed blockchain service. It supports Ethereum and Hyperledger Fabric.

"This service will greatly facilitate the use of the two most popular blockchain frameworks," said Andy Jbady, CEO of AWS. He noted that companies tend to use Hyperledger Fabric when they know the number of members of their blockchain network and want robust operations and private capabilities. AWS promises that the service will be suitable for thousands of applications and will allow users to run millions of transactions (although the company has not specified the type of latency).

Hyperledger Fabric support is available today. The Ethereum badistance will be launched in a few months.

Getting started with Managed Blockchain involves using the AWS console, configuring nodes, adding members, and deploying applications.

"When we heard people say 'blockchain', we had the impression that their strange metamorphoses and confused what they really wanted," said Jbady. "And as we spent time with clients and figuring out the tasks they were really trying to solve, that's what we think people are trying to do with the blockchain."
