5. Which ending: The 1985 champion, Sandy Lyle, managed a birdie of distance to finish his Open career . It was a great time for someone who, some hilariously, wore exclusively merchandising items for the first two days.
6. Rory McIlroy spoke of this after his turn, but the wetter conditions cerated situations that required stepping back and not challenging some of the fairway bunkers. Add this to the (long) list of reasons why this course is (and many open courses are) great.
7. Pins: How good is the R & A to set up his career? I thought about it this morning, and I think they're doing such a good job of not making the greens too crazy by killing them like the USGA. They fold the pins behind the bunkers, improve your ability to score according to the angles and allow the courses to do what they do. This allows the best players to shine and reduces the complaints that seem to come mainly from bad ecological configurations. They make it difficult, but they do not make it a clown show. I think players respect that.
This tournament is the absolute best. Really wish we saw all the best players in the world on a links course more than a week a year.

8. Sooner or later it was the right break: If you got the draw sooner or later Kisner, Spieth, Fowler and Kuchar, the course was playing on a shot and a half easier than if you were late-McIlroy, Fleetwood, Koepka and Zach Johnson.
9. Can Kisner keep up? He is now led or co-directed after five of the last 14 major championships. However, like Dustin Johnson at the 2018 US Open and McIlroy at the 2018 Masters, he relies too much on his putter. That does not mean he can not win Sunday, but that means he probably will not do it.
