STAR Golf Tournament for the Disabled

The second STAR Family and Friendly Golf Tournament will be held on Thursday, September 15th at the Silvermine Golf Club. , 95 North Seir Hill Road, Norwalk

Join STAR to help people with intellectual and developmental disabilities take a family-friendly short course. The Kershner Gallery hosts a reception on Saturdays from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm for "Reconstructions", paintings by Karen Neems, Cherril Kolesik and Philip Eras. The artists will talk about their work at 5:15 pm The paintings will be on display until September 15 at the Fairfield Public Library, 1080 Old Post Road.

Eras began art lessons in 1963 while he was a medical officer. When he retired in 1999 as a doctor, he became a serious painter. Having attended art clbades at different times, he studied with a professional artist and then had the first painting that he did with her selected for the cover of Connecticut Medicine. Another chart was featured in an AMA journal. Eras has shown his paintings in places in the area, including the Westport Fine Arts show, and Florida.

Neems is an award winning photo collage and mixed media artist based in Stamford. She studies at the Silvermine Arts Center and with artist mentors. She has had numerous solo and group shows in galleries and museums in the area and has won awards for her work in photography and mixed media. His work is in both private and corporate collections.

Kolesik received an artistic education at Silvermine as a child and later. She studied art education at the Georgian Court University in Lakewood, New Jersey, and studied interior design at Fairfield University. A decorative painting course led her to start her own business, which lasted 23 years.

The Kolesik Museum Diaries series was shown at Upstairs Gallery, Kershner Gallery, Pequot Library, Agora Gallery in New York, and now in "Reconstructions."
