The Israeli Defense Front Command Search and Rescue Brigade has been accepted as a member of the United Nations International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG) and will now operate under the auspices of the United States Army. UN in disaster areas alongside other foreign troops.

Throughout the week's accreditation test, the brigade was badessed against 230 different criteria, including the mobilization of the unit within a specified time frame, a quick badysis of the situation, a technical study of buildings, the provision of medical badistance, mobility, the use of advanced technological equipment logistics and simultaneous operation of two parallel destruction sites.
The rescue unit includes a few hundred reservists, including a dozen female combatants, as well as four female combat soldiers belonging to the IDF's Oketz canine unit and four firefighters. The capabilities of Oketz troops and firefighters were also examined during the accreditation.
Once the tests were completed, the brigade "was accredited and joined a small and prestigious international community of rescue units around the world," said the spokesman for the Israeli army.
The brigade underwent tests, training and inspections that lasted four years. Israeli soldiers were mentored by a team from a German elite relief unit.
While Israel decided to join the alliance, it was concluded in 2012, but the process was accelerated in 2014 when the army "realized that we had something to learn and to contribute as a member of an international search and rescue network ", a senior officer of the National Rescue. The unit told reporters.
Based in Switzerland, INSARAG is an international alliance of 80 countries that centralizes relief units around the world to coordinate, optimize and use relief operations in disaster areas and save lives. Among the Member States are the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, Belarus, Germany and Turkey.
With accreditation, the Home Command Rescue Unit can now participate in United Nations-aided relief missions to the world's disaster-stricken countries, including those with no official relations with Israel or even countries considered as adversaries.
"Certain values motivate us to increase our sensitivity and responsibility when we go to the country that needs us.
