Huawei's 5G smartphones will be equipped with improved cooling modules

As the technology industry evolves with 5G wireless technology, phone manufacturers are working hard to develop devices that are compatible with advanced technology. Huawei is one of the suppliers that prepares 5G compatible handsets. And according to a new report, the future phones of Chinese companies will be equipped with improved cooling modules.

Industry sources told DigiTimes on Monday that Huawei had already asked Auras Technology, based in Taiwan, to be its only supplier of cooling modules for its 5G smartphones. Auras essentially supplies Huawei with copper heat dissipation sheets for the cooling system of each handset.

Auras started testing the cooling modules at the end of July and is now scheduled to begin mbad production in September. He will have plenty of time to work on the modules since Huawei plans to release his first 5G smartphone in June 2019.

Auras has not commented on the sources released by the industry this week. However, it should be noted that Auras chairman YS Lin said earlier that the 5G will force phone vendors to adopt high-performance thermal solutions for their new devices. This is because the 5G transmission rate is going to be more than 10 times that of 4G and higher film resolutions will be required.

Huawei is currently aiming to progress to the top two smartphone vendors in the next 1-2 years, so it needs to prepare more advanced technologies to dethrone Samsung or Apple. This explains why Huawei is already planning its next big move in anticipation of the 5G boom.

Huawei also chose the right partner because Auras already has experience in the production of series cooling modules. The Taiwanese company started to apply its heat dissipation systems to smartphones two years ago. For Huawei devices, Auras makes 0.4mm heat dissipation copper sheets in cooling modules.

The only drawback here is the expected increase in price tags of devices. Sources have indicated that cooling systems that contain heat-dissipating copper foil are much more expensive than the graphite sheets adopted in most smartphones and the heat sink hoses used by Samsung, LG and HTC. As a result, heat-dissipating copper foils are more commonly used in high-end thin laptops.

While this is undeniably an ambitious move, it is also inevitable since the technology industry is slowly adopting 5G chips, which offer more than five times the performance power that existing 4G chips. Only time will tell if Huawei will achieve his goal next year. The company plans to ship about 300,000 units a month from its first 5G smartphone.
