Even though the Internet may never dream of seeing Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino) portray a Spider-Man live, creator of the upcoming Spidey movie, Spider-Man: in the Spider-Verse, could have a surprise that will satisfy the lovers of Glover.
In an interview with Fandango, Chris Miller (producer) and Phil Lord (producer / screenwriter) were asked about a possible actor / writer / director / comedian / rapper / producer cameo (his CV is ashamed of all others) animation film.
"… is there a quick shot of Donald Glover in a scene when Miles [Morales] visit his uncle's apartment? ", asks Fandango.
"It looks like him, of course," teases Lord. Miller adds that he is not sure if they are "legally allowed to say", but Lord is developing a little by mentioning Community and the "wave of support" that he got for a "Spider-Man of Color".
In fact, there might not be Morale Miles (the central character of Spider-Man: in the Spider-Verse) without Glover. In a season two episode of Community, the character of the actor, Troy Barnes, donned a Spider-Man pajamas, who finally launched the campaign so that he plays the character. Shortly after, Miles Morales was created by the writer Brian Michael Bendis and the artist Sara Pichelli, influenced by the Community moment.
Morales joined Marvel Comics in 2011, about a year after the Community The episode "Anthropology 101" was aired. Since then, Donald Glover is no stranger to the vast world of Spider-Man content. In 2015, he expressed Morales in two episodes of Ultimate Spider-Man. He also played Aaron Davis in Spider-Man: Homecoming, stealing the two scenes in which he was. (Mahershala Ali will talk about Davis Spider worms.)
Lord added, "We just thought it was a neat nod," but Miller was quick to go back.
"It may or may not actually be in the movie," explained Miller, "You have to look to find out …" If you're not lucky enough to see Glover Spider wormsyou will certainly hear Simba in the next live-action The Lion King. In addition, the third season of his television series, Atlanta, will return to FX in 2019.
Spider-Man: in the Spider-Verse Follows several versions of the neighborhood's hero, including the iconic Peter Parker (voiced by Jake Johnson). The film also stars Shameik Moore (as Miles), Hailee Steinfeld, Liev Schreiber, Nicholas Cage, John Mulaney, Kimiko Glenn, Lily Tomlin, Brian Tyree Henry and Luna Lauren Velez.
