Of the respondents, 43% reported taking active measures to hide their Jewish identity, such as wearing a hat on their kippah pendant or hiding from the Star of David.

Many respondents indicated that they perceived an increase in the prevalence of antisemitic sentiment, with 48% saying they avoided situations where they suspected being exposed to antisemitic reactions.

The results of the survey were released Monday.

Other key findings:

  • 52% respondents say that anti-Semitism in the street has become more common; 59% say it also extends to the media and 82% see it increase online
  • 34 percent reported having heard anti-Semitic remarks against them; Of these, 89% said that these words were related to Israel.
  • 11 percent respondents reported being the victims of anti-Semitic violence against them. Nearly three-quarters of those surveyed said they heard anti-Semitic jokes stating stereotypes about Jews. Other jokes concerned the Holocaust. One respondent said that a neighbor had already told him that the only reason the respondents lived in the Netherlands was "because they forgot to refuel" to his family.
