ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Iranian Revolutionary Guards claimed Saturday that they killed three militants during a security operation in the west of the country, near the border with Iran. Iraq, reported the state media
. The terrorists had planned attacks after crossing the Iranian border into Kermanshah province (Kermashan), the guards said in a statement issued by the Iranian news agency IRNA.
The statement did not offer more details about the identity of the activists.
Kurdish armed opposition groups remain active at the border and regularly target Iranian guards in the region.
According to the statement, the guards injured a fourth militant and confiscated weapons, ammunition and other equipment.
A local volunteer fighting alongside the guards was also killed, the statement added
