UK Trade Minister Liam Fox arrived in Israel on Tuesday to discuss trade opportunities after Brexit, as London seeks to replicate EU free trade agreements or preferential trade agreements with countries around the world. third after leaving the EU.

Yariv Becher, commercial attaché of the Ministry of Economy and Industry in London, said that Israel had been negotiating with the UK for over a year to ensure the continuity of trade between Israel and the United Kingdom once Brexit is applied.
Becher said that because of the uncertainty surrounding the Brexit process, Israeli companies – mainly Israeli exporters – are affected.
"Our message – especially for companies exporting goods to the UK – is that the government is doing everything in its power to ensure that the post-Brexit transition is smooth and that companies will not feel the effects, and that trade continues as before, "he said.
Currently, Israeli trade with the EU is governed by its free trade agreement with the EU.

If, however, the United Kingdom leaves Brexit without agreement, London will have to establish its own trade agreements with third countries. Becher said that there currently exists a joint working group with the British government to make sure that even if it did not agree with the EU on the Brexit, "we will have an agreement that will come into force to ensure that existing business platforms will continue to exist vis-à-vis Israel and the United Kingdom."
