Israeli woman killed and man seriously injured in West Bank crash

An Israeli woman was killed and an Israeli man was seriously injured on Thursday when their car collided with a bus in the northern West Bank.

The car was stuck under the bus and caught fire following the crash of Highway 5 between the Jewish settlements of Barkan and Oranit, according to the Magen David Adom's ambulance service.

The woman, who was a pbadenger in the car, was declared dead on site by paramedics, while the driver was taken to the Sheba Medical Center in Ramat Gan in serious condition.

MDA stated that the driver, a 50-year-old man, suffered multiple system failures and had many third-degree burns.

The bus driver, aged 60, was slightly injured in the accident and was taken to Beilinson hospital in Petah Tikva.

Both victims were briefly trapped in the vehicles before rescuers could reach them.

It was not clear right away when there were pbadengers in the bus at the time of the collision. Images of the scene showed the burned remains of the bus after it caught fire.

Police shut the road back and forth and opened an investigation into the accident.
