John Doerr convinced that Amazon will deploy Prime Health

Mr Doerr said that technology companies could change the health advertising sector, as Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, only on a much larger scale and with a much bigger impact.

"I met Larry and Sergey in 1999 and they transformed the advertising," Doerr said.

Television commercials were traditionally bought and sold around martini lunches on Madison Avenue in New York, and advertisers made their decision based on their personal relationships. Google advertising has replaced this method by providing ways to target users and measure and track performance in real time.

"This has propelled Google and the online industry to where it is today more important than online TV advertising," Doerr said.

He cited online advertising in the United States as a $ 75 billion industry, while health care expenses amounted to $ 3.5 trillion, or "50 times larger," -he declares.

To access healthcare, technology companies must have access to data, which remains locked and stored in formats that computers can not or can not read. Big Tech is working hard to solve this problem. Amazon has just released a service to help mine medical records, Alphabet is collaborating with major hospitals to badyze health data to predict serious illnesses, and Apple is seeking to bring patient health information on iPhone.

"My dream is to bring the marketplace of advertising words to value-based healthcare," Doerr said. "It will be more difficult because the data are literally incarcerated."
