Jonny Greenwood is doing two missions during Radiohead's current North American tour. Not only does he do it for over two hours with the headliners every night, he also opens the concert as part of Junun, his project with Israeli composer Shye Ben Tzur and the traditional Indian group Rajasthan Express. In 2015, the band released an album recorded by Radiohead's longtime producer Nigel Godrich. Paul Thomas Anderson, the filmmaker whose latest films were scarred by Greenwood, did a documentary about the recording sessions.

Now, in the middle of the Radiohead tour, Junun made his American television debut. Last night, they played the The Late Show with Stephen Colbert giving the world its most accessible chance to discover their mix of traditional Eastern genres. Greenwood, who is best known for his twist guitar work of reality, has surprisingly handled bbad functions during performance. Tzur was in a frontman role, but with so many singers and instrumentalists on stage, it seemed more like a real collective effort.
