ROME – Police in Northern Italy recovered two stolen paintings in 2017 , a Renoir and a Rubens.
Carabinieri police showed paintings for journalists Friday in Monza, a town in Italy's northern Lombardy region.
Investigators llege the works were stolen from Monza from a pair of art dealers by suspects posing as buyers. Investigators say the thieves had signed a fake contract pledging to pay 26 million euros (about $ 30 million) for the paintings. According to the investigators, when the traffickers were distracted, the thieves tore up the paintings and left.
Police said the paintings were found in a warehouse in Turin, Italy. Investigators said that there were eight suspects, including four Italians and a Croat arrested last month in the case.

NEW YORK – Works by Robin Williams and Memories of His Career Including Autographed Manuscripts, Sotheby's announced Friday that the collection of Williams and his wife, Marsha, would be sold at auction in New York on October 4th.
The sale will include the street art of Banksy and Shepard Fairey, furniture and decorative art and more than 40 watches from Williams' personal collection
