LG V40 ThinQ still arriving in three months

In the last 11 months, three V-series phones have been launched by LG: the V30, the V30S ThinQ and, more recently, the V35 ThinQ. Four if you count the exclusive V30 +. Not bad for a smartphone maker reported to be girding his kidneys due to quarter-over-quarter losses. LG, however, is far from done. Unsurprisingly, there's still the flagship V8 of the 2018 series, unsurprisingly called the LG V40, and it will unsurprisingly carry the ThinQ AI brand.

At this point, it will be difficult to imagine what the LG V40 ThinQ will bring to the table. After all, the V35 ThinQ has just about all the latest specifications and features 2018. Without the notch, of course. With no news of any new hardware or technology, the LG V40 ThinQ may struggle to stand out from its immediate predecessor.

According to the Korean news website ETnews, the differentiating factor will be the triple cameras. Following in the footsteps of Huawei and possibly preempting Samsung, the V40 ThinQ will be expected to sport a trio of 20, 16 and 13 megapixel cameras, one of which will have a super wide angle while another will have a super telephoto . LG has always had decent cameras but, for one reason or another, has not been able to stand out from the competition.

LG does not seem in a hurry to launch the V40 ThinQ. In fact, it does not launch intentionally early, to avoid having to deal with Samsung's launch in August. According to sources, LG is planning a launch in early October, later than its September schedule of last year. Although it avoids Samsung, it runs the risk of being quickly overshadowed by the launch of the Apple iPhone during the same month.
