Manchester City is at the top of the rankings and is still improving. All the Premier League should be worried

[ad_1]

If the victory of the team was not worrying enough, that's what Pep Guardiola said. "We can improve," said the Manchester City manager, with the way he said it meant a lot.

Remember that this team has now gone to Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool and claimed seven points without conceding a goal.

And of course, this Liverpool team could be just as undefeated and only behind City tops the table with a goal difference – this is only the fifth time in history that two teams have won eight of their first 10 matches – but what is worrying for them With regard to this title race, there is this question of depth: until the city can still go in team; until they can go without losing points.

This is also what could end up deflating slightly. If City does not lose points in games like this, against a coach Mauricio Pochettino who was able to defeat Guardiola, when he loses points?

1/22 Hugo Lloris: 6/10

Made two crucial stops, but once again he was under a lot of pressure and was not always very confident in front of goals. Nowhere to be seen as a goal of the city.

2/22 Kieran Trippier: 5/10

He was ok in the attack and put in dangerous centers, but he was the most likely player to aim for City's goal and seemed uneasy to defend for a good part of the evening.

3/22 Davinson Sanchez: 6/10

It's really impressive this season, but it was not his best day. I do not think it will be a good day for most central City defenders, notice.

AP

4/22 Toby Alderweireld: 6/10

Was good but less composed when not next to Vertonghen.

EPA

5/22 Ben Davies: 5/10

Lost Mahrez for City's first goal and did not offer much for the future. Danny Rose to come back in.

EPA

6/22 Eric Dier: 5/10

Made unnecessary fouls as usual, and City midfielders had improved overall during the match. Subbed after an hour.

REUTERS

7/22 Moussa Dembele: 6/10

It was better than his partner and showed his strength at times, but it's still hard to play against this relentless team from City.

EPA

8/22 Moussa Sissoko: 6/10

A few positive moments but lack of composure in key areas.

AP

9/22 Erik Lamela: 6/10

Like Lucas, looked good in the sparks, but lost the ball too often, making it too often in Manchester City. Provided the best chances for the Spurs with a smart pbad, though.

AP

10/22 Lucas Moura: 5/10

He showed some decent acceleration and seemed to be a threat, as he has been doing for a season, but his dive was rather dreadful and he could not find as much space as he did this year.

Getty Images

11/22 Harry Kane: 5/10

Another night of rest for the English striker. He has not yet found his best level and a very heavy touch in the first period set the tone for his evening.

EPA

12/22 Ederson: 8/10

Another fantastic match of the Brazilian, it's his long ball that allowed Raheem Sterling to start early in the first half to set up Riyah Mahrez, but he also made crucial blocks to stop Harry Kane.

13/22 Kyle Walker: 7/10

A good performance for the full back back. Taken by surprise a few times, but good result.

AP

14/22 John Stones: 7/10

Strong performance of a player who has had his criticism.

Getty Images

15/22 Aymeric Laporte: 8/10

Keep on impressing the heart of the City defense, having played every minute so far this season.

AFP / Getty Images

16/22 Benjamin Mendy: 6/10

Certainly the most likely player in the City background. I have made some mistakes, but the Spurs have not managed to capitalize them.

Getty Images

17/22 Bernardo Silva: 7/10

A neat and neat performance again, creating a lot of good times for City.

AFP / Getty Images

18/22 Fernandinho: 8/10

A midfielder also composed and impressive that allows the fluid attack to unfold in front of him.

Getty Images

19/22 David Silva: 7/10

Was not at his best tonight and missed a fantastic opportunity to make 2-0 in the second half, but despite that, remains the master of the ball.

Getty Images

20/22 Riyad Mahrez – 8/10

Really improving in the blue (or purple) City, he left behind this Liverpool penalty. The only goal of Scored City tonight is dedicated to the president of Leicester, who unfortunately died in the collapse of the helicopter on Saturday night, in front of the King Power Stadium.

Getty Images

21/22 Sergio Aguero: 6/10

Aguero has missed innumerable chances to put the game to bed, but he has always led the line effectively and despite the lack of goals, he can be reasonably satisfied with his performance.

EPA

22/22 Raheem Sterling: 8/10

All kinds of problems for Kieran Trippier and the setting up of City's quick goal. Just another good performance of the English winger.

They have already made such an advantage not to just beat the "14 others", but to beat them after scoring 24 goals in seven games against them: an average of 3.43.

The fact that they have added to that on the other side, ensuring clean leaves in big matches, only shows how balanced they are.

And that's the thing. They managed to believe that Guardiola was right, but that they seemed to be able to improve, but that they had several levels to go through.

We just feel they have not reached the peaks of fluidity and cohesion last season. They are now unraveling their sides with beautiful quality and muscle memory, rather than the truly elaborate movements they are capable of. And it's only a matter of time before they really start offering it, especially now that Kevin De Bruyne is back from his injury.

It's just something else, to bring down in the league. City has arrived at this position without his best player, without this playmaker who really pushes his intensity deep.

If all that sounds a bit hard for a Liverpool team that has not reached its best level of attack itself, it's just that it's hard not to think it will solve this problem, to have players like De Bruyne to come.

City reaches new heights (Getty)

No matter what Liverpool does, City will simply have too much chance of winning. Liverpool will have to end up surpbading themselves while the Guardiola team will always have this little extra to offer.

Guardiola is certain that they have more to give of this. This: an incredibly strong position, of the type that the English league has rarely seen.

And they "can improve". These are the words that are more disturbing than the numbers.
