"Tierra Whack, she loves the next big Philadelphia outing," said Meek, with good reason. Whack World inspiring everyone from Buddy to Vince Staples. "She is very artistic. She from my neighborhood. I think she'll become one of the biggest women in the music business, in a short period of time. "
Thank you for watching!
Here's the thing: Tierra Whack is amazing. This is no longer in debate. The problem, however, is that Meek could not rent Tierra without emphasizing the fact that she is a woman. Why does she have to be one of the biggest women in music, and not just a major force in the rap game? These inadvertent compliments perpetuate the notion that women are strangers to rap, which is as false as possible.
Remember when Rapsody left her immaculate and tender Laila's wisdom, and fans have dubbed her "Kendrick Lamar's wife". Rapsody is not the Kendrick woman, nor the woman she is. She is Rapsody, a great MC with infinite potential and touching music. Tierra Whack is pretty much the same thing.
Congratulations to Meek Mill for marching for his city, but fewer points for advancing gender stereotypes and putting Tierra in a box.
