Meghan's husband, Prince Harry, also reportedly faced the wrath of his grandmother, The Queen, following the diadem's incident.
According to veteran royal journalist Robert Jobson, the Duke of Susbad would have been "petulant and angry" in the prospect of his royal wedding.
He would have said loudly to the staff: "What Meghan wants, Meghan gets it" and when information was shared with the Queen, she asked to see her grandson privately and "put it firmly in its place".
Meghan's attitude in the royal family contrasts with that of sister-in-law Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge.
The differences between them were evident at the Royal Foundation Forum in February.
Meghan seemed to speak with more confidence than Kate, although she was a newcomer and had a lower royal rank.
A royal insider told the Daily Telegraph: "They are very different women despite similar circumstances. Meghan is extroverted while Kate is shy enough. "
Meghan and Harry will leave Kensington Palace to visit the Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor Estate, claiming they want more space and privacy to welcome their newborn.
The Duke and Duchess of Susbad apparently wish to escape the "goldfish bowl" of royal life, and as Harry is not a direct heir to the throne, he is more free in his living conditions.
However, speculation is rife on a possible division between William and Harry, Kate and Meghan being also in the picture.
When Harry was asked if the royals had any disagreements between them, he joked, "Oh, yes!"
He added, "Family work has its challenges, of course. But we are stuck together for the rest of our lives. "
Meghan and Harry will renovate Frogmore Cottage, with the intention of transforming this five-bedroom cottage into a family home with a nursery and a resident nanny.
Like William and Kate, members of the Royal Family will pay for the interior design, but the renovations will be at the expense of the taxpayer.
The apartment costs of William and Kate were estimated at £ 4 million, but they increased to £ 4.5 million before they moved to their new home in 2014.
