The watch had been owned by Syria after Cohen's execution. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu congratulated Mossad for "a support action aimed at restoring to Israel the memory of a great fighter who has contributed significantly to the security of Israel".
His widow, Nadia Cohen, told the Israeli media that the watch had been bought, but she did not know where, "the Mossad spoke to us a few months ago when the watch was for sale".
She said that she was glad to have it, "I felt that it was a part of her body, her blood is on this watch."
Eli Cohen's daughter told Israeli radio that "it's very exciting, it's the first and only thing we have from dad".
When asked where the watch was coming from, Cohen's daughter said that the watch "was in an enemy country, probably Syria, it was bought on the internet".
The Prime Minister's Office declined to comment on the location where the watch was purchased.
Nadia Cohen added, "The watch has been in Israel for several months, which is exciting news, God willing, someday, his body will be restored."
