National Institute of Design's film festival to showcase 76 films across 18 countries

The fourth edition of the Alphabirama, Asian Short & Documentary Film Festival of the National Institute of Design will showcase 76 films from 18 countries. The festival has movie screenings, master clbades, seminars, etc. and is open to outsiders.

Interestingly, the films screened are from Turkey, the Philippines, Iran, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Israel, Uzbekistan and many more nations including India. Asian competition, Looking China (documentaries on Chinese nature, culture and craft, made by foreigners and guided by overseas mentors), NID Film & Video retrospective, Looking back (Award winners from previous three editions of Alpavirama) and feature films.

The prize money worth Rs 3,25,000 is crowd-funded, from individual contributions by 51 NID Film & Video alumni / alumnae.

The last day of the festival will have a seminar on the portrayal of the elderly in media. This year's Prof. Dr. Shahidul Alam from Bangladesh, of the Pathshala South Asian Media Institute, is the author of the Shahidul Alam Award for the Education of Syllabus.
