Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accepted a request from MK Yehuda Glick (Likud) and rescinded his decree forbidding seated MPs to visit the Temple Mount.
In a letter dated June 27 asked the Prime Minister to rescind a two-year ban preventing deputies from sitting on the site, declaring that the National Security Council and the Israeli police have both supported the change, and noting that Arab deputies regularly visited the mosques on the site.
Glick, a licensed tour guide and longtime advocate of Jewish prayer rights on the Temple Mount praised Netanyahu for his move, but said the ban itself was " illegal "and" irrational ". "

Netanyahu's decision comes less than three weeks before Tisha B & B, anniversary of the destruction of two ancient temples on the site, in 586 BC and 70 EC, respectively. Traditional Jews mark the day with the customs of fasting and mourning. Last year, more than 2,000 people visited the Temple Mount on the occasion of this anniversary.
