She was operated shortly after the flyweight competition for a broken arm. It was later revealed that the healing process had not worked well, which ultimately led to a second intervention.

This was done to fully recover and forced her to participate in a four hour operation. During this operation, doctors had to take bone fragments taken from the hip and moved to the arm.

In a recent interview, VanZant said that seeing other fighters in her division progress in her career makes her jealous. However, that forced her to have a lot of aggression.
