REVIEW – All of these personal devices make life easier, but they require juice, is not it? Enter the portable charger, the market for which exploded (fortunately figuratively, not literally). I own and / or have reviewed a handful of portable chargers and have been rather pleased with most of them, but the RAVPower wireless portable charger 10,000mAh 5W has a feature pretty unique, a built-in wireless charger that can be used to charge compatible Qi smartphones. With some of the latest rechargeable wireless iPhones in our home, I was delighted to be able to try the RAVPower 10 000 mAh 5W Wireless Portable Charger. Gadget on!

Design and Features
The compact size and shape, especially for a battery with a capacity of 10,000 mAh and can carry a wireless charge and wired. The circle on the top dead center of the charger, seen in the picture above, is where the phones compatible with the wireless charging should be placed.
I also like the slightly matte and sticky look, matte black, which looks cool and helps to grasp the device.
As mentioned above, this charger is of a good size, as seen in the picture above. It can easily be slipped into a backpack or purse, and even a large enough pocket if needed.
This charger includes a soft cloth drawstring pouch for storage. There is also a small pocket on the outside for storing the cable.
When I removed the charger from its box and pressed the button at its end, two small blue LEDs out of four. This indicated that the charger already had about half of its total battery capacity.
The next thing I did was plug the charger into a wall outlet to fully charge it, as shown above. RAVPower recommends using a 2.4A AC wall charger to charge this device as quickly as possible.
By plugging the charger into a 2.4A AC wall charger, a tiny red LED near the end of the charger turns on. This indicated that the device itself was charging via its input port and turned off after 15 seconds
It was not long before one-third of the four small LEDs blue lights, indicating that the internal battery charger was charging
Once the charger loaded, the first thing I wanted to try was the wireless charging function, which I used with the # 39; iPhone X of my wife. his iPhone X on the charger. This charger is compatible with all Qi compatible wireless devices. Its footprint is also about the same as the imprint of an iPhone X (thought it's also thicker).
Once I placed the iPhone X on the charger, another tiny LED was lit and flashed, this one indicating that the charger has detected that it's was in contact with and charging a wireless device. Once the iPhone X is fully charged, the green light will turn off. Note that this LED blinks red if a device not compatible with wireless charging has been placed on it
My wife's iPhone X has been loaded without incident on the charger. The charging speed was not as fast as with a wired charging connection, but from what I understand, it's typical with wireless charging. In addition, in these photos, I show the charger with an iPhone X on a holster, but the charger has been able to charge my wife's iPhone X as well as my brother-in-law's iPhone 8, each one being relatively thin, but not
I also rotated the iPhone X 90 degrees on the charger to see if it was going to charge again, and that's what it was past. As long as the center of the iPhone X was centered enough on the circle on the front of the charge, everything was fine. Moving the iPhone X a little off-center would cut off the wireless charging connection.
In addition to the wireless charge, I also evaluated the charger's ability to charge two devices simultaneously. In the picture above, I have my wife's iPhone X charging wirelessly at the top of the charger on the left, and my iPhone 6 Plus charging via a cable connection on the right. The USB output wired charging connection is iSmart 2.0 and can produce 5V / 2.4A max. Note that sometimes the button on the charger had to be pressed to initiate the charging of the phones, and other times it did not seem necessary and the phones started charging automatically as soon as they were sitting on the tip or plugged into the charger.
A few weeks before publishing this review, I brought the RAVPower 10 000 mAh 5W Wireless Portable Charger for a two week family trip across Europe. With long days of visits, including using my iPhone 6 Plus's browser to search for things, apps for directions and recommendations, and take hundreds of photos a day, this charger has given the extra boost needed to keep my iPhone 6 Plus running. Several times I have used it to charge two iPhones at once, one wireless and one wired, and with its 10,000 mAh capacity, it has continued to charge multiple devices for several hours. At night, I would just plug in the charger and charge the battery to be ready to use it the next day. It has also resisted the abuse of being placed in and out of backpacks, purses, pockets and suitcases. The only drawback is that once the charger completely emptied, I sometimes had trouble recharging it. It may be the difference in voltage and AC frequency between the US and Europe, but some places I've tried to charge the charger's battery just did not work. However, upon his return to the United States, he discharged his load
What I like
- Simultaneous wireless and wired charging of two devices
- The capacity of 10 000 mAh will charge several devices for hours
- Relatively small and compact size
What needs to be improved
- Need to press the button to initiate charging – it was inconsistent and by therefore, I sometimes forgot to do it
Final Thoughts
The RAVPower Wireless Portable Charger 10,000mAh 5W is a very useful and convenient charging device. It's rugged, compact enough, and can charge two devices simultaneously with its wireless and wired charging capabilities. Its capacity of 10,000 mAh allows charging devices for hours. This is a nice little portable charger and I found it very useful.
