The number of tourists arriving in Israel in the first half of 2018 exceeded 2 million for the first time in history

Some 2.18 Million Tourists Entered Israel between January and June 2018 Tourism Minister Yariv Levin said marketing activities led by his department contributed to the registration of this report. The increase in tourism reflects a jump of 19% over the same period in 2017. Some 3.5 million Israelis came out of the country during the same period, an increase of 3.5% compared with the same period in 2017.

1.8 million tourists entered Israel by air, including 63,000 via Ovda Airport near Eilat. This represents an increase of 73% over the previous year. Levin noted that because of reforms in the airline industry the number of flights from Europe to Eilat has increased.

About 243,000 arrived by land crossings. The rest arrived by sea.
