Kolkata, Nov 14 (UNI) Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF), yesterday faced some negative buzz amongst netizens due to a sudden removal of the full film screening schedule of the festival from the official website.

After that, lots of negative comments have been seen in social media and other web platforms.

In this regards in an exclusive conversation with UNI, Chairperson of 24th KIFF, Prosenjit Chatterjee cleared up all the delusions.

Mr Chatterjee said, “There are neither any technical issues nor some discrepancies. We have done this because we don’t want the cine goers of the city felt misguided anyway. We are aware that the people of Kolkata eagerly wait for this very festival. Actually the video formats some of the houses have sent for screening in various sections aren’t working properly in some of the single theatres. As we have noticed some problems in Navina and Mitra today. That is why we are rescheduling the needful and putting that accordingly on the website. So, the film buffs will get the proper info a day before the screening.”

The schedule hasn’t faced any changes in major venues like Nandan and Rabindra Sadan.

Giving a more clear view, Mr Chatterjee added, “Even we have faced some problems in Nazrul tirtha too. Some of the houses who have sent films for various categories have been mitigated accordingly in writing as there are no subtitles in those films. If a film has been sent to competition; sans subtitles, what can we do?”

But, this is not that only KIFF is facing this and not that it’s the first time in world. Even festival like Cannes also does it in a same way in need.

“So our team is checking all the films to be screened and after having green signals from every technical aspect they are updating the schedule in website”; concluded Prosenjit.
