A new set of diagrams was set up by the FCC courtesy certification agency confirming that Samsung's next smartwatch Gear, called Galaxy Watch, will be available in two sizes. Although Samsung is known for launching two versions of its Gear smartwatch – the Gear S3 was launched in the Clbadic and Frontier versions – this may be the first time that Samsung will offer a choice of two sizes.
It should also be noted that Samsung is also known for launching a sports variant of its smartwatches which is smaller and less flagship than its Clbadic and Frontier versions intended for fitness enthusiasts. Both versions of Galaxy Watch, mentioned in the FCC repository, can represent standard and sport versions, you never know.
While one of the variants is supposed to have a screen size of 1.19 inches, the other comes with a larger 1.3 inch screen. The 1.19-inch version has only recently been spotted on FCC confirming, among other things, that the next Samsung smartwatch will call Galaxy Watch and not Gear S4. The new drawings confirm the model numbers as well as some additional ideas. The larger model has the model number SM-R805 while the smaller one has the model number SM-R815, depending on the ranking. Both variants will support LTE and Bluetooth 4.2 LE. The larger watch will have a larger 48mm chbadis while the smaller one will have a 43.4mm chbadis. Interestingly, both versions carry the same name, that is, Galaxy Watch. It would be interesting to see how Samsung names them at launch.
Samsung seems ready to give up Gear's nickname for its next smartwatch. The company has also registered the Samsung Galaxy Watch logo in its home country, with South Korea apparently suggesting that its next smartwatch may not call the Gear S4. Instead, he could just call the galaxy watch. The change, which would be substantial for Samsung's smartwatch range, should allow the entire product portfolio of the company to be under the Galaxy umbrella, thus helping to standardize its products.
OS though some reports also suggest that the company might look to use Google's new Wear operating system in its next smartwatch. Samsung should do some sort of announcement regarding the Galaxy watch on August 9, the same day it launched the Galaxy Note 9.
