Settlers ban entry of truckloads to Gaza

GAZA, Sunday, November 11, 2018 (WAFA) – Extremist Israeli settlers on Sunday banned the entry of dozens of trucks loaded with basic commodities and fuel to the Gaza Strip through Karm Abu Salem border crossing, on the farthest southeast border of Gaza with Israel, said WAFA correspondent.

He said dozens of settlers blocked the main road leading to Karm Abu Salem crossing, preventing access of the trucks that were loaded with merchandise, food items, fuel, cooking gas and construction materials destined to the Gaza Strip.

Hundreds of trucks are still waiting on the Palestinian side of the border crossing awaiting discharge of the truckloads coming from the Israeli side, but to no avail until the moment.

Drivers of the trucks on the Palestinian side are reportedly blaring the horns of their trucks in protest of the roadblock by the settlers.

Karm Abu Salem is the only commercial border crossing of Gaza allocated to the entry of badly needed humanitarian items such as food, fuel, gas and cement to the densely populated coastal enclave. Its closure means further exacerbation of the humanitarian crisis resulting from Israel’s 12-year-long blockade of Gaza.
