The boring company Elon Musk abandons its test tunnel project at Westside

"The Boring company is no longer looking for the development of the Sepulveda test tunnel," said the parties in a joint statement. Musk's plans for tunneling will now focus on completing the tunnel to the Dodgers Stadium. The company's LA / Hawthorne test tunnel is also expected to open next month, with Musk promising free trips to the public.

But, as this latest regulation shows, there seems to be a gap between the ambitious Musk traffic avoidance project (and the municipalities eager to approve them) and the surface residents. The plaintiffs in the now settled lawsuit referred to the disruptive nature of the work required to create what Musk describes as "troubling" ground loops. They also said that the size of the project would be too important to qualify for an environmental exemption. A group lawyer stated that the settlement agreement was confidential, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The Boring tunnels will support Loop shuttles that can carry pedestrians, cyclists and private vehicles at speeds up to 150 km / h. Its goal is to transport travelers in these shuttles for only $ 1 to reduce congestion in major cities.
