There are only a few weeks left before the 2019 Sundance Film Festival, but it has just revealed the 112 feature films that will play the festival next year. They come from 33 countries and were selected from more than 15,000 submissions.
It's a lot of movies.
Fortunately for us, all the heavy dramas and poignant political documentaries are not topics we cover on io9. So, we went through the list and pulled out the odd shit. Cool shit. The shit Lupita Nyong'o and Josh Gad are fighting to fight against zombies! Where is castaway but like a ghost story. Or Zac Efron as a serial killer. Or a girl raised by a robot. You know, the things that interest us.
And do not forget that it's the festival where last year movies like Hereditary, Sorry for you two, Mandy, and Research debuts. So there are chances that some of these films will be the ones we are going to talk about at the end of next year.
These are not all 100% genres. Some are related to gender and deal with topics (such as serial killers, space travel, piracy, satanism, etc.) that are real, but still close by. We always think you will be interested. Here are the official festival descriptions for the films, grouped by their festival rankings.
