(July 11, 2018 / JNS) The Indian state of Gujarat granted the Jewish minority status to the community on Friday, officially recognizing Jews as beneficiaries of the specific legal rights to minorities.
Only 170 Jews live in Gujarat, centered in the city of Ahmedabad, which houses the Magen Abraham synagogue. Built in 1934, it is the only house of Jewish worship in the state.
