The Palestinian Authority (PA) based in Ramallah on Tuesday denounced the ill-treatment regularly inflicted on Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.
Addressing the Anadolu Agency, Issa Qaraqe, head of the Commission for Prisoner Affairs, said that Israel routinely subjected Palestinian prisoners to "harsh measures", including the deprive of water.
He then described these measures as "illegal".
Palestinians imprisoned by Israel are generally subject to severe restrictions, including restrictions on visits by family members.
The Israeli channel 10 recently reported that Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan had directed the Israeli Prisons Authority to reduce the shower time for detainees with the ostensible purpose of conserving water.
