Trump thinks the FBI building is one of the "ugliest" and wants to help redo it

Since the beginning of his presidency, Donald Trump has had a somewhat complicated relationship with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Now, it seems that the president has a new bone to choose from with the desktop – and that's all about appearances. According to Axios, Trump apparently hates how the FBI building looks and wants to reorganize it completely. However, up to now, no concrete plan exists for an FBI building overhaul.

Axios reported Sunday that for the last few months Trump has repeatedly mentioned the remodeling of J. Edgar Hoover FBI's building during credit meetings. Indeed, the spokesman noted that during the FBI's discussion, Trump said at one of these meetings: "Even the building [FBI] is terrible … it's the # 39, a brutalist-type buildings, you know, brutalist architecture. think it's one of the ugliest buildings in the city. In response to Axios' request for comment, the White House indicated that Trump is interested in making changes to the building." He also noted that he has studied the matter with General Services. This is not the first time the Trump administration has discussed rebuilding the FBI building. According to the Los Angeles Times in February, the White House noted that it planned to ask Congress about $ 2.2 billion for a new FBI building. The newspaper reported at the time that the funds would be used to demolish the existing building and erect a new one in the same place. He also noted that previously the FBI had spent several years looking for other potential locations for its headquarters, but the Trump administration finally decided that the disbadembly option would be more economical.

The current FBI building named after the FBI's first director, J. Edgar Hoover, is at its current location since 1975. However, if the construction actually occurs at some point, it seems like President Trump would like to be heavily involved in the process. As Axios noted, the president reportedly told his chief of staff that he wanted to oversee much of the details of the renovation process, for example by discussing building materials.
