Turkish authorities arrested the wife of Abu Omar al-Shishani, a commander of the Islamic State killed in action two years ago, during an anti-terrorist operation in Istanbul this month, the police said Thursday.
Dubbed "Minister of War" of the Islamic State and close advisor to the leader of the extremist group, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the Georgian Shishani was killed in the Iraqi district of Shirqat, south of Mosul, in July 2016.
His wife was one of five people arrested during simultaneous raids in Istanbul on the night of July 4, targeting people suspected of having links to conflict zones and actively seeking to carry out attacks. ]
