JERUSALEM (JTA) – A sophomore student from the University of Kentucky was missing in Israel after a late night swim in the Mediterranean Sea.

TeNiya Jones, a senior biologist with a minor in Islamic studies, was on a weekend visit to Israel from Jordan, where she was enrolled in a seven-week exchange program. She was to return home to Fort Myers, Florida, in a week

Jones, 19, went out for swimming with two other exchange students on Saturday night. According to one of the students, a strong current pulled them all three further out to sea while they were swimming. Two of the students were able to go back to earth, but Jones did not, according to a statement published by the University of Kentucky.
