Spoilers coming for the episode of November 27 Deadly weapon Season 3, called "What's the puck."
When Deadly weapon Seann William Scott began his third season with Roger's new partner, Cole. Although Cole spent most of his time on the screen with Roger having all kinds of problems with the LAPD, he also worked to reconnect with his old love lady and daughter. Over the episodes, he made positive progress and ended up kissing Natalie.
"What the Puck" saw Cole and Natalie deal with the consequences of the kiss, and the consequences ultimately ravaged poor Cole, which is expected to have lasting effects. Here is what happened.
At first, Cole was relatively cold with the kiss. He absolutely wanted to talk to Natalie, but he did not feel the need to push her for a meeting … until he realized that his perfectly fit boyfriend, Andrew, had great plans for a next evening. Cole knew that Andrew had the intention to propose to Natalie and he had to talk to her about their potential future before Andrew can ask the question.
Since Natalie is a doctor and Cole is a cop, it was not easy for them to synchronize their schedules on the fly and Cole got dubious advice from a criminal on how to persuade her to meet him. The criminal denied Natalie the first draft of Cole's text, saying that it did not contain enough romantic punch. Cole's second project explicitly stated that he could not stop thinking about kissing them, which … was not a very smart thing to do for him.
Natalie had explained to her during their first episode conversation that she had not spoken to Andrew about this kiss, and if Cole had really thought about what he was sending, he was not sure about it. Might not have mentioned the kiss. Instead, he sent her a suggestive message and Andrew saw it. Of course, Andrew was devastated to learn that the woman he wanted to marry had just kissed his ex, who happened to be also the father of his child.
The relationship between Andrew and Natalie seemed to be over and, to his credit, Cole felt terribly horrible for upsetting them. When Andrew stormed the LAPD, Cole took him to a private room and offered to let him hit him. Andrew did not want to hit Cole, and they were keen to make it clear to Andrew that Natalie wanted him rather than another trick with Cole. It was enough for Andrew to regain confidence in the relationship and ask the question to Natalie, who accepted it with joy.
Congratulations to Natalie and Andrew, but not much to Cole. Later, he told Natalie that he was happy for her and that it might be so in the long run. For the moment, her dynamic with Natalie – and perhaps her daughter, by extension – will necessarily be different. Even though he may be the same policeman in action, he could be a very different man in his spare time every time he does not spend an evening between boys with Roger. He is now heartbroken by his post-traumatic stress!
That said, the episode also seems to open the door to a new story of love for Cole, in the form of Erica, the AD. whose Cole car crashed into his opening scene. Despite their rough introduction and disagreements all the time, their jokes were decidedly flirty and they ended the episode on good terms. Will Cole go for a relationship with Erica? We will have to wait and see. Deadly weapon will definitely do it all with dynamic female characters this season!
Hoping that the series is not canceled before exploring the new characters and relationships. Tune Fox next week at 9pm.
