It has taken more than a year, but Google Assistant will meet the speakers from Sonos next week.

It's in October 2017 – about 19 months ago – that Sonos for the first time put forward the idea that Google Assistant be integrated with its high-end smart speakers. Finally, it seems that this feature concerns at least some Sonos products as early as next week.

The deployment information is hidden in the company's second quarter financial report (via Android font). In this report, Sonos reports that a software update is underway for Sonos One and Sonos Beam speakers based in the United States, which will bring integration with Google Assistant. The support of the assistants will touch other countries "over the next few months," which – judging by the track record – could mean anything.

Here is the full text of the report:

During this quarter, we would like to highlight the much anticipated launch of Google Assistant on Sonos. We have been working on this for a while and we are excited to publish it next week. With a software upgrade, Sonos One and Beam will support Google's wizard in the US, along with other upcoming markets over the coming months. This feature will actually enhance the customer experience and mark the first time that consumers will be able to buy a single smart speaker and choose the voice assistant that they wish to use. We believe that giving consumers choice is always the right decision and we anticipate that this philosophy will be adopted by the industry over time.

This may seem incredible, but it seems that Sonos is telling the truth by stating that these speakers will be the first in the market to allow users to choose the wizard to use in a system. This will certainly increase the appeal of the Sonos One and Beam.

Currently, the Sonos One costs $ 199 while the Sonos Beam costs $ 399.
