Earlier this week, Masahiro Sakurai revealed the latest DLC fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. In case you missed it, this is Sora from Square Enix’s long-running Kingdom Hearts series.

Sakurai’s all-star brawler for Switch isn’t the only thing ending, either. As you may remember, his usual Famitsu chronicles will come to an end. Believe it or not, he’s been writing this column since 2003. He talks about Smash Bros. and tackles many other game releases over the years.

While Sakurai is pulling the curtains on Smash Ultimate and its column, that doesn’t necessarily mean retirement is just around the corner. Earlier this year in May, he explained how much he liked “the idea of early retirement”, but made it clear that he would not be retiring from the gaming industry.

“I think I will end this column some time after releasing all the DLC for the Smash Brothers SP. Anyway this year. I won’t be retiring from the gaming industry entirely, though.

Other than a well-deserved break, what would you like to see from Mr. Sakurai next? Leave a comment below.
