Palio di Siena, ten neighborhoods and this moment of madness – Interactive – Region

SIENA. Entering life, today Piazza del Campo becomes again the center of the microcosm of Paliesco Sienese, where each desire (and each spell) is allowed. Ten neighborhoods united by a dream: actually a drapery, that painted by the lawyer, caricaturist and cartoonist Sienese Emilio Giannelli. Tonight, when the ten quarters leave the entrance of the town hall at 19:30, thousands of contradictions (and tourists) will stop breathing. It will create a surreal silence just before the call among neighborhood rails by the confirmed messenger Fabio Magni.

But back, because the race is only a minute of madness where thousands of people move like an abnormal wave, attracted by the whirlwind of ten horses ridden by so many soldiers of fortune, the jockeys so loved and so hated. The 96 hours of Palio became hotter from the flyer when the horses were badigned to the districts by lot. On the basis of the impenetrable will of the blindfolded goddess, the districts organize, will engage jockeys more or less established. A trait that led to these coupled: Jonatan Bartoletti called Scompiglio on Solu Tue Due to Giraffa; Giovanni Atzeni told Tittia in Porto Alabe in Oca; Andrea Mari called Brio on Rocco Nice in the Dragon; Carlo Sanna called Brigante on Rocco Ro in the Leocorno; Luigi Bruschelli called Trecciolino on Tabacco nel Nicchio; Giosuè Carboni known as Carburo on Sorighittu in Lupa; Alberto Ricceri called Salbado on Trattu de Zamaglia nell & Istrice; Elias Mannucci says Turbine on Renalzos in the snail, Giuseppe Zedde says Gingillo on Remistirio in Valdimontone and Andrea Chessa says Nappa II on Rombo de Sedini in Tartuca

Palio di Siena, the ten secrets of the race Mosse , careers, baptisms, "shaken" horses and raised clusters: here is a manual for non-Sienese – THE ARTICLE

As always a lot of weight will have games between rival contrade, knowing that there is three pairs of enemies: Chiocciola – Tartuca, Nicchio – Valdimontone, Istrice – Lupa, while Oca and Leocorno do not have the opponent on the spot. Finally, Giraffa and Drago are peaceful neighborhoods, that is to say without manifest hostility. But who will win the Palio? The first to choose the horse were Brio and Tittia, with all the others driving; the Pistoiese Scompiglio "bounces" between Chiocciola and Giraffa, but prefers to return to the place where he has already won. There is therefore a Trecciolino who aspires to conquer this 14th victory that would allow him to reach that damn Palio that was Andrea Degortes, called Aceto, the most famous jockey of all time. Trecciolino on December 27 will be 50 years old, then the arrows at his bow are starting to run out. He wears Nicchio's jacket, for the moment bewitched for the Sienese jockey. But anything can happen in the Palio, even jockeys like Carlo Sanna, Alberto Ricceri and Giuseppe Zedde can try to dream. After all, out of the ten jockeys of the place today, seven have already won: the victory is missing only in Carboni, Chessa and El Hérionese Elias Mannucci, who has touched on August 16th. By adding the titles of the protagonists, you get 34 wins, then 17 years of Palio di Siena, mathematically speaking.

Among the suitors there are two dryers for a long time: Nicchio and Chiocciola, the first in 1998 (August 16) and in 1999 (August 16). While there are those – like Giovanni Atzeni – managed to capture the horses of the only horse already winning in the square, this fantastic leader of Porto Alabe of Palio from August 16, 2017. Atzeni is the designated heir from Trecciolino: shy character, came renamed Tittia which means "this cold".

In short, there is material to write yet another chapter of this story, a centuries-old story written in the tuff by the hammering of the horse's hooves.
