Demarco Boyd. (AUSTIN (KXAN)) – Tom Herman issued a statement Thursday announcing Demarco Boyd's suspension from the team.
"We are aware of the situation with Demarco Boyd and have suspended from any team activities at this time," said Herman's statement. "We will continue to monitor the judicial process and, pending its completion, determine any further action."
Austin police say he is charged with the crime of badault and battery. KXAN sources confirm that this comes from a car accident that occurred on July 4th.
Boyd's older brother, Kris, is a senior defensive back for the Longhorns. Kris tweeted two photos of the accident and indicated that the real recruit BJ Foster was with him but made no mention of Demarco.
As a freshman Last season, Demarco played in four games, mostly on special teams. The linebacker did not record any statistics.
Kris wants to be a leader in the team and is on a list of pre-season watch lists. They are both from Gilmer, Texas
. Texas opens training for the 2018 season on Friday, August 3rd.
