All you needed to know about the disinterestedness of the Warriors who continue the story is showing off as they set new records Monday night at the United Center.
Stephen Curry scored with an NBA record seven consecutive games with at least five 3 points.
And yet, throughout the decimation of the Bulls by the Warriors (149-124), Curry barely looked for this shot. The entire team – so skilled at making sacrifices, so selfless for the common good – focused their energy on Klay Thompson's rehabilitation project.
Thompson came in a range very different from Thompson's 5-in-36 on 3 points. While his teammates were setting up screens and looking for him in virtually every possession, Thompson beat Curry's NBA record with 14 points to 3, making 10 draws in the first half.
Thompson scored 52 points in 27 minutes, including 36 in the first period, and cheered loud applause from the opposition crowd. In the third quarter of an hour, while Thompson was wearing a yellow header to help close a cut made by a teammate's involuntary elbow, the Warriors missed easier shots and looked for it in transition for three consecutive attempts of 3 points.
It is selflessness.
Curry's seven-game winning streak with at least five 3s is over, while he was only trying four, or two. He scored 23 points in 25 minutes. Draymond Green scored 11 badists in 25 minutes. Kevin Durant added 14 points in 28 minutes.
None of the Big Four of the Warriors pbaded the mark of 4 minutes in the third quarter.
The Warriors scored 92 points in the first half, the second-highest total in half a history of the NBA. In the first half, the Warriors shot 62 percent and sank 17 3 points, an NBA record. The Bulls led 42 at halftime, tied with the league's fourth league deficit.
It was almost expected that Joakim Noah, sitting in the Reinsdorf suite and pulling a standing ovation when shown on the video card, would collapse and make a blatant foul on someone.
No wonder the Warrior coach, Steve Kerr, has been lagging behind in his pre-game remarks.
"We know we have a big advantage in terms of talent," Kerr said.
The Warrior coach said this in a broader context – do not take the Bulls for granted, complete their three-game journey without letting the attention get lost, just focus on their own game.
Mission accomplished while the Warriors improved their record against the Eastern Conference at 105-19 compared to 2014-2015.
Zach LaVine's 21 points led the Bulls.
"I'm just trying to help these guys enjoy every moment of what's happening to them. Because it goes quickly. It does not seem like 20 years have pbaded since the (Bulls) 98, "said Kerr. "Life goes quickly. So, you must enjoy every minute. It is this year's goal: to enjoy our time together and hope that it continues. "
Fortunately for the Bulls, Monday night has finally ended.
