The little girl arrived at Meyer around two in the morning, in red code and she was transferred to pediatrics, while a series of examinations were carried out which, after a few hours, gave the answer: meningococcal meningitis type B

Currently its conditions, constantly monitored, are defined stable. The doctors reserved themselves to dissolve the prognosis after 48 hours. The Asl Toscana Center has started the procedure to identify the close contacts to be subjected to prophylaxis.

The bacterium is transmitted through the respiratory tract. In infants and young children, the clbadic symptoms of meningitis

may be difficult to identify, while vomiting or loss of appetite is usually present. Children are inactive and irritable, may have altered reflections and swelling may appear on the head near the fontanel. –
