From animation to the conflict in Syria through the Italian fantasy with the Otzi mummy. With the announcement of the six winning features of Gryphon Award 2018 closes the 48th intense edition of the Giffoni Film Festival after days pbaded between screenings and debates. A pbadionate selection that has compared more than 100 works in competition, including feature films, short films and documentaries, chosen from 4,600 preselected productions.

Here are the titles chosen by the 5600 jurors of Giffoni:

ANT – The taste of Elements +3 elected the short animated ANT (Julia Ocker, Germany, 2017) history from a little ant who instead of following the rules prefers to deform them with great creativity.

OTZI AND THE MYSTERY OF TIME – Italian pride triumphs in the Elements +6 section with OTZI AND THE MYSTERY OF TIME (ÖTZI AND THE MYSTERY OF TIME) (Italy, 2018) by Gabriele Pignotta. The work enjoys an exceptional cast with Alessandra Mastronardi and Vinicio Marchioni.

ZOO – Change of genre for the work selected by Elements +10: the preference falls on ZOO (Ireland / UK, 2017) by Colin Mclvor. The protagonist of the work is Art Parkinson, who played RickonStark in "The Throne of Swords".

THIS HEART MADNESS – The Generator +13, on the other hand, crowned THIS MAD HEART (Germany, 2017) by Marc Rothemund who in 2013 had presented – in the same section – "The Girl with Nine Wigs ".

SADIE – A favorite SADIE (Usa, 2018) by Megan Griffiths was the +16 Generator. In the film Sophia Mitri Schloss, former star of "Lane 1974", presented in 2017 at the Festival, in addition to actress Danielle Brooks, known for the television series "Orange is the new black"

BROTHERS – The complexity of relationships in current and delicate contexts: it is the heart of the film chosen by the +18 Generator with the brothers (Holland, 2017) by HanroSmitsman.

LIYANA – The winner of the Gex Doc section, totally dedicated to documentaries, is LIYANA (Qatar / Swaziland / Usa, 2017) by Aaron and Amanda Kopp
