In a statement provided to USA TODAY Sports, Air France said that he located McDowell's bag in Paris and is working to return "Air France confirms that Mr McDowell's golf bag has been located at the Paris Charles de Gaulle airport and will be transported to Dublin tonight, in accordance with the wishes of the pbadenger," the airline said. "The company regrets the inconvenience faced by Mr. McDowell in Manchester and remains committed to improving our processes to ensure the best customer service."

McDowell, who won the US Open 2010 at Pebble Beach, was asked by a Twitter user why he did not consider renting a pair of random clubs for the qualifier of this week while the airline was locating its bag. He replied that he had another appointment this week – the Irish Open – and that he had to "reduce my losses and start getting ready."

The 38-year-old Northern Ireland player will have another opportunity to qualify for the Open.
