EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – New York Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins has described the death of his close friend as "shocking" and the aggravated accusations of manslaughter against his brother in his first public comments since the incident this summer.
Roosevelt's body "Trypps Beatz" Rene was found in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, last month. The police arrested Williams Jenkins Jr. a few days later.
The two men were living in Janoris Jenkins' house in New Jersey. Jenkins, who claims to have been in Florida at the time of the murder, returned to the area for the start of the training camp last week. He went to collect the pieces and try to focus on his work.
"I did not talk to [my brother] to be honest," he said Sunday. "But I'll see where his head was and, for the rest, I'll leave that aside."
Jenkins intends not to let the incident affect his performance on the ground. He will not discuss the details of the case at a press conference at the Giants' training camp.
His current approach is to take up work.
"Set aside," he said. "I understand that I have to focus on my work: being here is more important, training hard and going forward is more important."
Williams Jenkins has a criminal record. According to the New York Corrections Department, he was arrested for drug trafficking in 2006 and again in 2011. He was released from prison in July 2016.
He was arrested at Smart Mart in Farmington, NY , June 25th. Janoris Jenkins and René collaborated in music production before his death. Jenkins mentioned Rene as a "good friend" in his only comments before Sunday, which came in an Instagram post. The police first referred to Rene as a friend of the family.
"It really makes me sick to know that he's dead," the statement said.

Giants coach Pat Shurmur said he talked to Jenkins about the idea. ;incident. He reiterated that the cornerback of the Pro Bowl was in Florida at that time.
"I spoke to Janoris and I think you are all aware of what happened and tragic every time someone dies". ] Jenkins is in his third year with the Giants after four seasons with the Rams. We expect him to start at the corner corner position for the Giants this season.
