Josh Hart of Los Angeles Lakers named most valuable player of the 2018 NBA Summer League

LAS VEGAS – Josh Hart of the Los Angeles Lakers was named Most Valuable Player of the MGM Resorts NBA Summer League 2018. The 6-5 goalie is also leading the teams in the All-NBA Summer league League.

The NBA Summer League MGM Resorts, an 82-game, 12-day event featuring the 30 NBA teams for the first time, culminates on Tuesday night as the seeded Lakers take on Portland Trail Blazers, seeded second-seeded championship 22:00 ET on ESPN. The meeting is a rematch of last summer's championship game, which was won by the Lakers.

In this year's competition, Hart is taking a 24.2 point lead over the NBA Summer League (47.1% on the field), 5.2 rebounds and 1 , 5 interceptions in six games. He scored 27 points and added six rebounds, three badists and three steals in the 109-92 Lakers win over the New York Knicks on July 10th. In the semifinals of the tournament on July 16, Hart recorded 37 points and nine rebounds to lead the Lakers past the Cleveland Cavaliers 112-109 in double overtime.

Join Hart in the NBA's first summer team, Chicago Knicks forward Wendell Carter Jr., Knicks forward Kevin Knox, the guard of the Collin Sexton Riders and Milwaukee Bucks Center Christian Wood.

The second All-NBA Summer League team consists of the Phoenix Suns' Deandre Ayton, Wade Baldwin IV Trail Blazers goaltender, Memphis Grizzlies forward Jaren Jackson Jr., striker Lakers Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk and Hawks guard Atlanta Trae Young. A media panel chose Hart as MVP and voted for the All-NBA Summer League teams of MGM Resorts.
