Intestinal bacteria can produce electricity: "We will soon have live batteries"
The news was published by the Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the European Center for Disease Control and Prevention (ECDC) as part of a joint statement. Reviews confirmed that the listeria strain would be the same in all countries, which then sent the case back to the product processing plant. According to the ECDC, it is likely that the Polish plant producing smoked salmon contaminates the environment.
In smoked salmon, the presence of listeria is often recorded because of the smoking that is increasingly done cold and not hot. In the second case, indeed, thanks to high temperatures, the bacteria dies and there is no risk to the health of consumers.
