Netflix made its own Monarca Mexican series produced by Salma Hayek's Ventanarosa Company

The Dramatic Show Monarca is part of the plan with which Netflix is expanding its international titles. The series, with Irene Azuela and Juan Manuel Bernal follows the world of the Mexican high clbad, crossed by corruption, scandals and violence. Salma Hayek will produce the project with his Ventanarosa in collaboration with Lemon Studios and Stearns Castle

According to the description by Netflix, Monarca is a high-profile, multigenerational family saga about the Mexican empire based on tequila and the battle that triggers when a family member decides to fight the corrupt system that his loved ones have helped to create. Speaking of agreement with the streaming platform, Salma Hayek said:

I am extremely excited to be working with Netflix and working with incredible Mexican talents in front of and behind the camera. We are proud to show Mexico as a vibrant, sophisticated and culturally rich nation struggling to control its own destiny.

The filming of Monarca will begin this fall and the series will debut worldwide in 2019 Erik Barmack Vice President for the original international content Netflix, explained how Mexico is "a priority" for the development of new series and looks forward to the best titles possible through collaboration "with key players such as Ventanarosa and Lemon Studios."
